Students have been learning about functions, and reviewing what they learned last year about equations. They are able to graph a function, given its domain and the rule, and can determine if a given graph or table represents a function. We will be doing a lot of work with functions this year, and have laid the foundation for later topics. Before moving on with functions, it is important that students are able to solve algebraic equations. We have gone over what steps to take in order to solve multi-step equations. Students have had a lot of practice solving equations with a few different activities.
Here's a game that students have played to practice solving equations:
Students rolled 2 dice to determine which equation they would solve. If they got the equation right, they would put their colored piece in the square. The object is to get 4 squares in a row.
